NC Pastor Calls for Death of Homosexual Men and Women

Wednesday, May 23rd 2012 @ 11:33 AM (not yet rated)    post viewed 50 times

A very troubling and disturbing video from a church's own website has surfaced and gone viral. It shows Pastor Charles L. Worley of Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina calling for the "rounding up, fencing in, and death of homosexual men and women." The video has been featured on the homepage of CNN.com and numerous other news websites over the last several days.

There is so much that is troublesome about this video: the pastor's tone, his anger, his heart toward gay and lesbian people—and his call to exterminate them. Remember, there was once a man named Hitler who had similar thoughts and intent—who ultimately murdered millions of innocent men, women, and children.

Yet, what's even more disturbing about this video is the congregation's response to their pastor's comments—their vocal "Amen!" affirmations to everything Pastor Worley was saying.

What about the Christian clarion call to share the gospel and Jesus Christ with the world? What about Christ's love for those who are lost? What about that same love that we as Christians are supposed to show toward those who are lost in sin, as we ourselves once were? Is Pastor Worley exhibiting Christ's love through his preaching?

Is this what Jesus would say or do?

While tempers and passions are flaring due to President Obama's statements regarding same-sex marriage, no pastor, Christian, or homosexual man or woman should ever let their statements be filled with such anger, hatred, or suggestions of murder.

Please join SBM Worldwide in praying for Pastor Worley, the congregation of Providence Road Baptist Church, and the media attention this has now brought upon this shepherd and his flock. More importantly, let's pray that God will use this circumstance to bring about repentance, forgiveness, and, ultimately, restoration to Pastor Worley and his congregation, and that the Lord will turn this all around for His glory and good purpose.

Feel free to share your thoughts on this video, as well as your thoughts on how people on both sides of the issue are reacting and responding to President Obama's endorsement of homosexual marriage. How do you think God can turn this situation around for His glory? (You MUST register in order to comment.)

President Barack Obama Comes Out in Full Support of Homosexual Marriage

Wednesday, May 9th 2012 @ 8:24 PM (1 ratings)    post viewed 290 times

President Barak Obama announced on ABC News tonight that he has come out in "full support" of homosexual marriage. Listen carefully to the words he uses to validate his statements. His decision to make these comments at this time comes on the heels of North Carolina becoming the 31st state to protect the institution of marriage by defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman only. It is also an election year, and President Obama is campaigning to hold on to the office of President of the United States for a second term of four more years.

What are your thoughts on this issue? What impact do you think the President's statements will have on homosexual marriage? Do you think this will help or hurt him while running for a second term? Please feel free to share your thoughts with the community here on the SBM Discussion Blogs.

Thanks for this post. This has been all over the news since yesterday.

I think President Obama is pulling at all the straws he can right now. While many of us hope he is a one term president, I have to say I'm not thrilled at who our other choice is. Obama is now relying on the homosexual vote to keep him in office. Remember, from the way the media portrays it, 90% of the country is gay. Only 10% is straight. So based on that, it looks like he's won! Wink

I listened carefully to the words he used. He said everyone should be treated "fairly and equally." Fairly, yes. Equally, no. Heterosexual marriage, one man and one woman for life, will never be equal to homosexual so called marriage. Never ever. Impossible.

What gets me is his phrase "the word 'marriage' evokes very powerful traditions, religious beliefs and so forth." I completely agree. All of a sudden because 2% of the population that identifies as homosexual decides they want the word 'marriage' and nothing less, we have to give it to them? That is a complete disgrace. I have gay friends who think gay marriage is a complete joke. They don't want to get married! If they did they said they would marry a woman!  Even they say marriage is between a man and a woman! So we are going to change thousands of years of tradition because of a few homosexuals who have lots of money and are using that money to pressure the government want to do so? Outrageous! Thank God the people in North Carolina have some brains!

I will never accept gay marriage and my family and friends believe the same. We will continue to teach our children and our children's children that homosexuality is sinful and wrong. We will teach them we need to respect and love all people, including homosexuals, providing we get the same respect and love in return. However, God's Word remains the same yesterday, today and forever. So do His teachings on the sanctity of marriage, one man and one woman for life and the sinfulness of homosexuality. President Obama can't change that or anyone else. God bless you for your faithfulness and your stand for the truth!
